This recording highlights the renowned Arp Schnitger organ in the Martinikerk in Groningen, a landmark of Baroque organ building constructed between 1691 and 1692. Celebrated for its brilliant North German sound and richly layered pipework, the instrument has undergone careful restoration while preserving its original tonal integrity. The program features works by Johann Sebastian Bach alongside composers who influenced him, including Frescobaldi, Bruhns, Buxtehude, and Böhm. Together, these pieces trace the musical lineage that shaped Bach’s artistry, offering listeners a compelling journey through the evolution of Baroque keyboard music.

Nicola Dolci is an accomplished organist, composer, and conductor with an active international career as a soloist and collaborator with leading European ensembles. He teaches organ in Rome and Brescia and received top honors from the conservatories of Brescia and Verona before further study in Stuttgart and with renowned specialists. A prizewinner in major competitions, including the International Martini Organ Competition (2022) and the Terenzo Zardini Competition (2025), he is recognized for both performance and scholarship. Dolci regularly records and performs with distinguished ensembles and has released recordings of Francesco Cavalli’s sacred works, while also maintaining an active conducting career across choral and orchestral repertoire.
