André Moisan presents Projet 8, an innovative recording that brings together eight Canadian composers in a unified contemporary concept built around eight works of approximately eight minutes each for bass clarinet and octet. Featuring contributions by Yves Léveillé, Tim Brady, Rémi Bolduc, Philippe Côté, Beth McKenna, John Roney, Sébastien Champagne, and Simon Bertrand, the project blends composition and improvisation at the intersection of jazz and classical traditions. Supported by an ensemble combining string quartet and jazz trio, the bass clarinet emerges as a central expressive voice, shaping a modern and immersive sound world. The result is a stylistically diverse yet cohesive exploration of contemporary Canadian musical creativity.

André Moisan is a Canadian clarinetist and saxophonist known for the clarity of his tone, expressive versatility, and broad stylistic range spanning classical, jazz, and contemporary music. A long-standing member of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal since 1999, where he serves as principal saxophone and bass clarinet, he has built an extensive career as a soloist and chamber musician. Moisan studied with several distinguished teachers in Montreal, Kitchener, Chicago, and Berlin, and began his musical training at an early age under his father, Gilles Moisan. In parallel with performance, he has taught at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Music since 1989. His discography includes over seventy recordings, reflecting a sustained commitment to artistic excellence and musical diversity.
