The Hexaméron Ensemble marks the bicentenary of Carl Maria von Weber's death with its precise debut album on the Paraty label. Centered around a historic 1825 Rosenberger fortepiano, the period-instrument program traces a narrative journey from the opera stage to the 19th-century salon. Led by fortepianist Luca Montebugnoli alongside a distinguished ensemble of instrumentalists and vocalists, the project seamlessly weaves together trios, sonatas, lieder, Scottish airs, and arrangements of Oberon and the Konzertstück. This deliberate curation highlights the intimate continuity between Weber's dramatic stage writing and the era's widespread practice of salon reduction.
Led by Italian pianist Luca Montebugnoli, the international Ensemble Hexaméron is a variable-geometry, period-instrument group dedicated to reviving late 18th- and 19th-century chamber music. Named after the famous 1837 collaborative composition by six piano virtuosos, the ensemble evokes the historical salon spirit. They blend celebrated masterpieces with forgotten accompanied piano repertoire, alongside chamber arrangements of large-scale symphonies, concertos, and operas. Serving as a laboratory for historically informed, contemporary interpretations, the ensemble features musicians trained at elite academies who balance teaching with performing alongside top French early music ensembles, including Pygmalion, Les Siècles, and Les Talents Lyriques.
