Released on the CAvi Music label, horn player Sibylle Mahni and pianist Hansjacob Staemmler’s album Transformations presents works by Paul Hindemith, Jane Vignery, and Olivier Messiaen to explore themes of change, renewal, and resilience. The carefully curated repertoire approaches transformation from unique angles: Hindemith's sonata contrasts tradition with progress, Vignery’s piece mirrors historical upheaval, and Messiaen’s work evokes transcendent hope. Together, they form a compelling narrative arc that moves from disruption to inner renewal. Guided by their deep artistic synergy, Mahni—a professor at Berlin's Hanns Eisler School of Music—and Staemmler deliver a profound and forward-looking performance of this multi-layered program.

Distinguished horn player Sibylle Mahni earned her concert diploma under Professor Marie-Luise Neunecker at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. A former scholar of the German National Academic Foundation and an ARD Competition prizewinner, she served as solo horn for the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra from 1997 to 2016. Following several prestigious professorships, Mahni succeeded her mentor as Professor of Horn at Berlin's Hanns Eisler School of Music in 2020. An internationally sought-after soloist and passionate chamber musician, she has performed globally, collaborated with prominent artists, and been a member of the acclaimed Ma'alot Wind Quintet since 2014.

Hansjacob Staemmler is a distinguished pianist and Professor of Piano Chamber Music and Instrumental Accompaniment at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. An alumnus of the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin under Professor Georg Sava, his training was further enriched by masterclasses with Daniel Barenboim and Menahem Pressler. Staemmler boasts an extensive career as a soloist, chamber musician, and song accompanist, collaborating frequently with premier instrumentalists and premiering contemporary works. His acclaimed artistic output is documented through numerous radio broadcasts and CD recordings. Notably, he was awarded the German Music Competition Prize in 2009 alongside his brother, cellist Peter-Philipp Staemmler.
