Nowhere Sessions is a deeply personal recording by Icelandic composer Snorri Hallgrímsson, created in a secluded family cabin in the Icelandic countryside. Surrounded by vast landscapes and near-total silence, the remote setting profoundly influenced the album, allowing space, stillness, and natural atmosphere to become integral elements of the music. Recorded and filmed with close friends, the project prioritizes intimacy, trust, and emotional authenticity over technical perfection. Hallgrímsson performs the piano parts and is accompanied by delicately arranged strings, while his occasional use of voice adds a subtle human dimension. Characterized by its reflective, melancholic, and understated beauty, the album embodies Hallgrímsson’s signature style, offering listeners a calm and contemplative musical experience inspired by a place of deep personal significance.

Snorri Hallgrímsson (born 1989) is an Icelandic composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose work spans solo recordings, film scores, and artistic collaborations. A contributor to the BAFTA-winning score for the TV series Broadchurch alongside Ólafur Arnalds, Hallgrímsson began as a classical guitarist before studying composition at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and Berklee College of Music. His solo career includes the albums Orbit and I Am Weary, Don’t Let Me Rest, as well as the introspective EP project Landbrot. In 2024, he joined Deutsche Grammophon, releasing Longer Shadows, Softer Stones and The Importance of Birds. Known for his restrained emotional depth, atmospheric string writing, and cinematic sensibility, Hallgrímsson creates music that balances introspection and elegance while drawing on his roots in Iceland’s rich choral tradition.
