In his 2026 Nimbus release from Wyastone Estate Limited, pianist Vladimir Feltsman presents a comprehensive three-disc survey of Edvard Grieg’s complete fifty-nine Lyric Pieces alongside the Four Album Leaves, Op. 28. Dedicated to his first teacher, E.M. Timakin, who introduced him to these works over six decades ago, the collection serves as a deeply personal tribute. Renowned for his refined elegance and expressive restraint, Feltsman avoids over-romanticization, allowing Grieg’s fusion of Norwegian folk tradition and lyrical artistry to emerge with natural clarity. The result is a masterfully realized, autobiographical journey through one of classical music’s most evocative piano collections.

Vladimir Feltsman, born in Moscow in 1952, is a renowned pianist, conductor, and educator. Trained at the Moscow Conservatory and later in conducting at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, he gained early acclaim after winning the Grand Prix at the 1971 Margaret Long Piano Competition. Due to his opposition to Soviet artistic restrictions, he was banned from public performance after applying to emigrate in 1979, eventually leaving the USSR in 1987. His Carnegie Hall debut that year launched an acclaimed international career. Feltsman’s wide-ranging repertoire spans Baroque to contemporary music, and he has recorded over 70 albums. He teaches at SUNY New Paltz and Mannes College.
