Feliks Janiewicz (1762–1848) was an eminent Polish violinist and composer whose career flourished in Paris, London, and across Britain. His five violin concertos represent some of the most significant achievements in late 18th- and early 19th-century Polish classical music, serving as pioneering examples of the European brilliant style. This two-disc album features the complete collection, performed on period instruments by Wieniawski Competition winner Bartłomiej Nizioł alongside conductor Andrzej Kosendiak and the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra. Highlighting the release is the world premiere recording of Violin Concerto No. 2, an landmark inclusion that helps restore Janiewicz’s historical legacy within European music.

Born in Szczecin in 1974, Bartłomiej Nizioł is an acclaimed Polish violinist and educator who began playing at age five. After studying in Poznań and Lausanne, he achieved international prominence by winning prestigious first prizes, including the 1991 International Henryk Wieniawski Competition. Based in Switzerland since 1995, Nizioł served as concertmaster of the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich and has led the Zurich Opera Orchestra since 2003, alongside his professorship at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. A recipient of five Fryderyk Awards and an Echo Klassik award, he performs on a 1727 Guarneri del Gesù violin and maintains an active global career as a soloist, chamber musician, and jurist.
