Igor Stravinsky’s (1882–1971) works for piano and orchestra highlight his neoclassical shift, prioritizing clarity, rhythmic precision, and form. The landmark Concerto for Piano and Wind Instruments (1923–24) eschews standard strings for a wind-heavy ensemble, accentuating the piano's percussive brilliance across a Baroque-inspired, three-movement structure. The subsequent Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra (1928–29) presents a lighter, more playful character using full orchestration and lively textures. Written primarily for Stravinsky’s own concert tours, these concertante pieces are complemented by short solo works, including Tango, Ragtime, and Circus Polka, which seamlessly infuse popular dances with his signature wit, syncopation, and modern dissonance.
Italian pianist Giuseppe Andaloro (b. 1982) is recognized as one of the most distinguished artists of his generation. Winner of prestigious international honors, including the Ferruccio Busoni Competition, Andaloro has built a world-class career as a soloist, chamber musician, and concerto performer. He regularly appears at renowned global venues and festivals, such as Milan's Teatro alla Scala, London's Royal Festival Hall, Tokyo's Sumida Triphony Hall, the Salzburg Festival, and the Ruhr Piano Festival. Collaborating with top-tier ensembles like the London Philharmonic and NHK Symphony under conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy and Gianandrea Noseda, Andaloro is celebrated for his virtuosic command and musical artistry.
