During its Japanese tour, which included performances at the Osaka International Expo, Izumi Hall, and Amami Island, the Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Modena, conducted by Maestro Hirofumi Yoshida, presented a captivating program honoring 19th-century Italian romanticism. Evoking an ideal Grand Tour, this recording showcases timeless masterpieces of the Italian symphonic repertoire, blending passionate drama with evocative lyrical warmth. The album features iconic orchestral works, including Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony, Mascagni’s Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, and celebrated operatic overtures by Rossini and Verdi, capturing the rich musical heritage and vibrant artistic spirit of Italy.

Renowned Japanese conductor Hirofumi Yoshida (born 1968) completed his musical studies at the Tokyo College of Music before earning advanced degrees at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and Siena’s Accademia Musicale Chigiana. Based in Italy, Yoshida has held prominent leadership roles, including Music Director at the Teatro Sociale di Mantova and Artistic Director of the Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, where he was also appointed Principal Guest Conductor. Celebrated for pioneering opera productions at UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Kyoto’s Kiyomizu-dera and Himeji Castle, he received the Enrico Caruso International Prize for his contributions to Italian opera.
