At the Salzburg Festival, Roberto González-Monjas led the Mozarteum Orchestra in a dynamic Mozart Matinée program featuring the orchestra's signature 18th-century expertise. Eschewing delicate interpretations, González-Monjas delivered a dramatic, textured performance of Mozart’s sacred repertoire, highlighted by spirited renditions of the Church Sonatas KV 278 and 329. Soprano Nikola Hillebrand impressed with her creamy, flexible voice in Exsultate, jubilate and Regina Coeli KV 108, while the Bachchor Salzburg provided expressive choral backing in Ave Verum Corpus. The concert concluded with a vibrant Coronation Mass, expertly supported by a distinguished vocal soloist quartet including Nikola Hillebrand, Ewa Nikolovska, Maciej Kwasnikowski, and Tareq Nazmi.

Roberto González-Monjas (b. 1988) is a Spanish conductor and violinist who built an acclaimed early career as concertmaster for the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and Musikkollegium Winterthur. Currently Chief Conductor of the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg and the Musikkollegium Winterthur, Music Director of the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, and Artistic Director of Iberacademy, he was recently named Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestre de Paris starting in the 2027/28 season. A Guildhall School professor, he records for Berlin Classics and maintains a busy international schedule, guest-conducting major orchestras, championing contemporary music, and performing on a 1710 Giuseppe Guarnieri violin.
