Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s two violin concertos capture both a prodigy's evolution and a pivotal stylistic shift in music history. Spanning the period between the thirteen-year-old composer’s 1822 D minor concerto and his mature 1844 E minor masterpiece, these works chart the transformation from Classical structural ideals to the expressive vision of Romanticism. Born in 1997 into a distinguished musical lineage, violinist Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev began his training at age five under Server Ganiyev and made his solo debut at eight with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra. Now an internationally acclaimed concert artist, he collaborates with prominent orchestras and conductors across the globe. This recording pairs his virtuosic talent with the renowned Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra Reutlingen under the direction of Howard Griffiths. An esteemed British-Swiss conductor and Royal College of Music alumnus, Griffiths brings decades of international experience leading major orchestras and championing contemporary repertoire, establishing a formidable partnership for this performance.
