A prominent figure of the French Baroque, Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689–1755) was an independent composer and publisher celebrated for fusing French elegance with Italian virtuosity. This recording highlights his artistic evolution through selected flute sonatas from Opp. 3, 19, and 44, charting his growth from French dance-suite traditions to an increasingly Italianate, expressive style inspired by Corelli and Vivaldi. Performed by a dynamic period ensemble featuring transverse flute, baroque bassoon, baroque cello, and lute, these works showcase Boismortier's unique musical language, marked by melodic charm, rhythmic energy, and enduring stylistic diversity.

Munich-born flautist Marion Treupel-Franck (b. 1969) is an internationally acclaimed specialist in historical performance practice and traverso. Following studies in Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Vienna, she earned a solo diploma under Barthold Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Her career encompasses global tours with premier ensembles like Bach Collegium Japan, numerous broadcast and label recordings, and artistic leadership roles. A dedicated educator, Treupel-Franck teaches at the HMTM in Munich—where she was named honorary professor in 2024—and the HfKM Regensburg, regularly leading masterclasses worldwide. In addition, she holds specialized certification in music physiology, further enriching her academic and pedagogical work.
