In her debut album, pianist Antonina Suhanova presents a definitive landmark of twentieth-century piano literature: Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Sonatas Nos. 6, 7, and 8. Composed between 1939 and 1944, these famous "War Sonatas" transcend literal program music to embody the severe tensions, political oppression, existential uncertainty, and utter devastation of the Second World War era. Together, these masterpieces represent the absolute summit of Prokofiev’s keyboard output. Demanding incredible virtuosity and artistic insight, they remain among the most technically rigorous and interpretively challenging works in the entire classical piano repertoire.

Pianist Antonina Suhanova has established an international career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral collaborator. Following studies in Latvia, she earned top honors and a Junior Fellowship at London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama under Ronan O’Hora, further refining her technique through masterclasses with masters like Vladimir Ashkenazy and Richard Goode. She has performed at top global venues, including Wigmore Hall and Steinway Hall, and collaborated with renowned conductors like Andris Nelsons. A multi-award winner and featured broadcaster on BBC Radio 3, Suhanova actively tours worldwide while training emerging talents on the Junior Guildhall faculty.
