Oboist Oliver Talukder, winner of Cedille Records’ 2025 Emerging Artist Competition, makes his solo recording debut with Briefly Gorgeous, joined by pianist Moriah Trenk. Inspired by Ocean Vuong’s acclaimed novel, the album reflects Talukder’s Mexican-Bengali heritage and Chicago roots, exploring the intersection of classical, Latino, and South Asian traditions. Performing across oboe, English horn, flute, and piccolo, the Curtis graduate and Juilliard student showcases his versatility through works by Agrell, Dranishnikova, Morris, and Esmail, alongside his own arrangements of Florence Price songs and Márquez’s Danzón No. 2. Produced by James Ginsburg, this release offers an expressive portrait of identity and technical virtuosity.

Oboist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Oliver Talukder is a dynamic artist of Mexican and Bengali heritage whose work explores cultural identity, storytelling, and genre-crossing repertoire. A Curtis Institute graduate and Juilliard master’s candidate studying with Elaine Douvas, Talukder serves as Second Oboist of Opera Philadelphia and has performed with major ensembles, including the Chicago and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras. Honored as a Sphinx Orchestral Partners Audition awardee, he won Cedille Records’ 2025 Emerging Artist Competition, leading to his debut solo album, Briefly Gorgeous. Praised by Gramophone as a compelling new voice, Talukder actively combines virtuosity with community engagement and creative versatility.

Praised for her fluid and graceful style, pianist Moriah Trenk enjoys a dynamic career as a soloist, chamber musician, and highly sought-after collaborative artist. She has performed at premier venues nationwide, including Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, and the Kennedy Center. Trenk works extensively as a staff pianist at The Juilliard School and with leading dance companies, including the American Ballet Theatre and the New York City Ballet—where she recently collaborated with violinist Hilary Hahn on a new Tiler Peck ballet. A dedicated community outreach advocate, Trenk holds degrees from New York University and the New England Conservatory.
