Young Canadian violinist Jacques Forestier makes his recording debut alongside pianist Boris Kusnezow with Song & Dance, a collection celebrating works inspired by vocal and dance traditions. Recorded following his victory at the 2024 Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition, the album features a wide-ranging repertoire—from virtuoso showpieces to art songs and folk transcriptions—by composers who shaped his artistic development, including Bach, Brahms, Bartók, and Gershwin. By centering on deeply personal music that spans diverse expressive styles, Forestier showcases both technical command and mature sensitivity, offering a compelling exploration of the violin's versatile nature in this landmark debut.

Violinist Jacques Forestier (b. 2004) is a Canadian soloist celebrated for his expressive maturity and technical virtuosity. Winner of First Prize, the laureate prize, and the audience prize at the 2024 Joseph Joachim International Competition, he made his orchestral debut at age eleven with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Forestier has since performed extensively across North America, Europe, and Asia with ensembles including the NDR Radiophilharmonie and Munich Chamber Orchestra. Currently studying under Shmuel Ashkenasi and Pamela Frank at the Curtis Institute of Music as a Thomas D. Watkins Fellow, he performs on a c. 1765 Parma G.B. Guadagnini violin.

Moscow-born pianist Boris Kusnezow is an acclaimed chamber artist, vocal accompanist, and educator based in Germany. His international career accelerated following his 2009 German Music Competition victory and a praised Carnegie Hall debut, alongside prestigious honors like the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. A graduate of Hanover’s Gnessin Academy and student of Bernd Goetzke, Kusnezow has performed globally at iconic venues, including the Berliner Philharmonie, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, and Munich’s Konzerthaus. Beyond his active recording and concert schedule with world-class soloists, he currently passes on his musical expertise as a faculty member at the Hanover University of Music, Drama, and Media.
