The Art of Parties showcases composer Alfredo Ovalles navigating the immense complexity and demanding nature of the piano to express his creative vision. Rather than being constrained by the instrument’s formidable repertoire and technical rigor, Ovalles utilizes the piano as an adaptable medium to channel his compositional style. Through this work, he leverages the piano's inherent versatility to fluidly bridge disparate musical ideas while dynamically exploring motifs of tension and resolution. Ultimately, the collection highlights how an artist can transform a notoriously uncompromising instrument into an expansive framework for personal innovation and compelling artistic expression.

Alfredo Ovalles is a Venezuelan-Austrian pianist and composer based in Vienna whose work bridges contemporary classical music, rock, jazz, and electronics. Introduced to music through a Queen videotape, he developed an eclectic style grounded in rigorous classical training and band performance. As an acclaimed soloist and chamber musician, Ovalles has performed with major ensembles, including the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and co-founded the Black Page Orchestra. Renowned for pushing performance boundaries, he regularly premieres new works and performs in non-traditional venues. His dual artistry as composer and interpreter is fully realized in his Ravello Records release, The Art of Parties.
