This program unites two Russian piano four-hands cycles from the late 19th and early 20th centuries: Sergei Rachmaninov’s Six Pieces, Op. 11 and Reinhold Glière’s Twelve Pieces, Op. 48. Markings the 70th anniversary of Glière’s death, this recording features the first complete presentation of his poetic, transparent, and structurally refined Op. 48. In contrast to Glière’s serene elegance, the 21-year-old Rachmaninov’s Op. 11 delivers intense, orchestral-scale passion and brilliant virtuosity. Shaped by shared roots under Taneiev and Arensky, both works showcase the rich possibilities of four-hands repertoire while offering complementary perspectives on the Russian Romantic tradition.

Pianists Elena Soussi and Valeriya Berestneva formed the Duo Eleriya in 2022 after connecting through their teaching roles at the Conservatoire de Fribourg in Switzerland. Focused on achieving a unified sound and precise instrumental balance, they approach the piano as a singular, shared creative space. Their cohesive artistic vision quickly earned prestigious international acclaim, including top honors at the Concours International Léopold Bellan, the Concours International de Piano de Paris, and the Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition's Gold Hands Award. Through these successes, the duo continues to showcase remarkable ensemble precision and exceptional artistic synergy.
