In his new album with Claves, pianist Teo Gheorghiu presents a deeply personal program shaped by nature, friendship, and family. Grounded in Fribourg, Switzerland, the recording features a live performance of Grieg’s iconic A minor Piano Concerto with conductor Gábor Takács-Nagy and the Fribourg Chamber Orchestra. The album also incorporates solo pieces recorded in the wooden Klanghaus in Toggenburg, including Schumann’s reflective Kinderszenen, Op. 15, and Olivier Lattion’s spiritually charged À l’unisson du Ciel. Moving away from his past bicycle-driven musical journeys, Gheorghiu delivers an intimate narrative connecting Romantic tradition, Scandinavian folk influences, and personal life.

Born in 1992, pianist Teo Gheorghiu holds dual Swiss-Canadian citizenship and Romanian heritage. After early competition victories, including the Beethoven Ring in 2010, he launched an international career performing with world-class orchestras like the Royal Philharmonic and in prestigious halls such as Tokyo’s Suntory Hall and Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie. Since 2020, Gheorghiu has maintained a acclaimed partnership with Claves Records, producing innovative projects like his Diapason d’Or-winning album Duende and Roots. Celebrated for his intellectual depth and unique artistic vision, he frequently integrates personal adventures, such as long-distance bicycle journeys, into his acclaimed musical recordings and global tours.
