This collection showcases the expressive depth and technical ingenuity of piano repertoire written exclusively for the left hand. It highlights Brahms’s masterly, faithful adaptation of Bach’s monumental Chaconne, designed to recreate the intimate emotional tension of violin playing, alongside Bach’s Gavotte en rondeau as transcribed by Rafael Joseffy. The compilation also features works by two historical virtuosos: Leopold Godowsky, the legendary “King of the Left Hand,” represented by his poignant Elegy and Prelude on BACH, and Alexander Scriabin, whose beloved Op. 9 Prelude and Nocturne emerged following a pivotal hand injury. Completing the program is Carl Reinecke’s obscure yet heroic Left-Hand Sonata, Op. 179, a romantic gem celebrated for its brilliant, acrobatic keyboard writing.

Born in Roanoke, Virginia, pianist and pedagogue William Grant Naboré received an extensive international education, studying under masters such as Carlo Zecchi, Alicia de Larrocha, Rudolf Serkin, and Pierre Fournier. Throughout his distinguished performing career, he has appeared as a soloist with major European orchestras and premier chamber ensembles. Renowned worldwide for his musical erudition, Naboré has mentored leading young pianists through masterclasses and key educational initiatives, including founding the Theo Lieven Foundation and the International Piano Academy Lake Como with Martha Argerich. In recognition of his exceptional contribution to nurturing emerging talent, he received the Vendome Award in 2017.
