With this release, cpo, the Gutenberg Soloists, and the Neumeyer Consort under Felix Koch have now completed an impressive five-sevenths of their shared journey, at the end of which connoisseurs and admirers of composer Georg Philipp Telemann can look forward to the first—and for a long time surely the only (and unique)—complete recording of the cantatas that the extraordinarily prolific composer wrote in 1713/14 for church services at Frankfurt’s Barfüßerkirche. The current box set is dedicated to the feasts of Ascension and Pentecost and also presents additional works counted in the church year “after Trinity”—all of them small and large marvels that, with their vividly sensory imagery, do full justice to the instructive texts of the poetic pastor Erdmann Neumeister.
