On BAROQUE, Californian saxophonist Christopher Greco presents a striking fusion of Baroque music with the warm timbre of the soprano saxophone, offering a fresh and expressive interpretation. Drawing on his extensive background with clarinet and flute, Greco brings a deep stylistic understanding that bridges historical authenticity with innovation. Joined by pianist Po Sim Head, whose nuanced playing enhances the period character, the duo delivers elegant and vibrant performances. Their collaboration reveals the saxophone’s expressive depth in a Baroque context, resulting in a bold and beautifully crafted reimagining of the genre that highlights both artistry and creative vision.

Christopher Greco is an American award-winning composer, multi-woodwind performer, and professor whose career spans classical, jazz, electronic, and non-Western music traditions. Raised in the diverse musical environment of Los Angeles, he developed a multifaceted style grounded in both historical and contemporary influences. Greco holds a B.A. and M.A. in Music from California State University, Los Angeles, and a D.M.A. in Performance from UCLA. He has studied with renowned musicians across woodwinds, composition, and theory. Known for his exploratory and vibrant work, Greco currently teaches at Benedictine College, where he coordinates theory, composition, and woodwind studies.

Po Sim Head (Fanny) is a distinguished Hong Kong-born pianist and musicologist known for championing underrepresented music, particularly by Latin American composers. Her acclaimed recordings, such as BETWEEN THE ANDES AND THE AMAZON and Piano Sounds from Ecuador, highlight her dedication to musical discovery. Trained in composition, piano performance, and musicology, she holds degrees from Hong Kong Baptist University, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and the University of Kansas. Head performs internationally and is also an educator and writer, currently teaching at Metropolitan Community College-Kansas City. Her latest collaboration with saxophonist Christopher Greco reimagines Baroque music through a fresh instrumental lens.
