Sandrine Piau (b. 1965) began her career as a baroque vocalist and has since become an internationally acclaimed soprano admired for her stylistic versatility. She performs regularly at major venues such as Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Elbphilharmonie, the Tonhalle, and the Philharmonie de Paris, collaborating with leading conductors including William Christie, René Jacobs, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and Klaus Mäkelä. Her operatic roles span Handel, Mozart, Debussy, Prokofiev, and contemporary works, with appearances at the Paris Opera, Salzburg Festival, La Monnaie, Aix-en-Provence, Berlin, and La Scala. With an extensive, award-winning discography on Alpha Classics, she has also been honored as Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2006) and Opera Artist of the Year (2009).

Founded in 1997 at the Conservatoire de Lyon, the Psophos Quartet quickly gained recognition through prizes in Osaka, Florence, London, and Bordeaux (2001). Selected as the first French BBC New Generation Artist and nominated for Victoires de la Musique (2005), the ensemble has performed at the Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall, Mozarteum, and major festivals, collaborating with artists such as the Capuçon brothers and Nemanja Radulovic. Known for artistic versatility, it explores diverse projects from jazz to theater, with acclaimed recordings spanning Brahms, Dohnányi, and French composers. Dedicated to outreach, Psophos supports humanitarian causes, performing in schools, prisons, and international charity initiatives.
