This PENTATONE release celebrates the splendor of 19th-century opera and the golden age of bel canto with music by Donizetti, Rossini, Bizet, Delibes, and Verdi. Soprano Erin Morley and tenor Lawrence Brownlee, joined by the Münchner Rundfunkorchester under Ivan Repušić, deliver performances that unite brilliance, lyricism, and emotional depth. The album presents beloved arias and duets that capture the enduring passion and elegance of the French and Italian repertoire. It marks the PENTATONE debut of Brownlee and Repušić, and a return for Morley and the Münchner Rundfunkorchester.

Born in 1980, American soprano Erin Morley studied at the Eastman School of Music and The Juilliard School, where she earned her Artist Diploma and received the Florence & Paul DeRosa Prize. A former Lindemann Young Artist at the Metropolitan Opera, she has won major honors including the Richard Tucker Career Grant, Beverly Sills Award, and France’s Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. Renowned for her versatility and dazzling coloratura, Morley has performed leading roles at major opera houses worldwide and sung over 140 performances at the Met. She also appears frequently with top orchestras and teaches master classes internationally.

Lawrence Brownlee is an acclaimed American tenor and a leading advocate for diversity in opera. Winner of the 2001 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, he has received numerous honors, including the International Opera Award for Male Singer of the Year (2017), the Marian Anderson Award, and the Opera News Award (2021). Renowned for his bel canto roles, he performs regularly at major opera houses such as the Met, La Scala, and Opéra national de Paris. Also a champion of social equity, Brownlee created the song cycle Cycles of My Being and serves as faculty at Juilliard and artistic advisor for Opera Philadelphia.
