This album takes its title from Evocación, the opening piece of Albéniz’s Iberia, and traces a three-century journey through Spanish keyboard music. Connecting rarely heard Baroque works with masterpieces by Granados, Albéniz, Falla, and Mompou, the program culminates in a newly released piece by Ruiz-Pipó dedicated to Ester Pineda. A specialist in Spanish repertoire, Ester Pineda offers a renewed view of Spain’s diverse keyboard tradition, revealing its refined expressiveness, rhythmic vitality, and vibrant colours. Their sensitive yet brilliant playing reimagines the Iberian spirit, blending historical memory with contemporary creativity.

Ester Pineda, born in Sabadell, trained at Barcelona’s Liceu Conservatory, earning top honours in piano, guitar, theory, and accompaniment. She later studied in Paris with Richepin, Bucquet, and Ballif, and has taught at the Conservatoire Jean-Philippe Rameau since 2004. Deeply committed to Spanish repertoire, she has released several acclaimed recordings featuring Granados, Ruiz-Pipó, Turina, and Mompou. Her work as a chamber musician includes collaborations with violinist Clara Bonaldi. Alongside her performing career, she is a dedicated pedagogue and researcher. Holding a PhD in systematic musicology, she studies cognitive processes in musical learning and has published influential books on piano pedagogy and music transmission.
