Marc André (b. 2002) is a distinctive French double bassist who has brought his instrument from the orchestral background into the spotlight, performing on a modified double bass with a tone closer to a cello. One of the few bassists to pursue a solo career with a major label, he demonstrates both technical command and expressive sensitivity. His debut album features an eclectic program spanning multiple eras, with arrangements of works by composers such as Christoph Willibald Gluck, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Astor Piazzolla, highlighting the instrument’s versatility. He is joined on two tracks by guitarist Gabriel Bianco, further enriching the album’s varied sound palette.
