The Tours and Deslauriers manuscripts, comprising around 300 works from 17th-century provincial France, offer a rich insight into sacred music of the period. Reflecting the spiritual and cultural vitality of the Kingdom’s regions, this repertoire reveals a strikingly theatrical approach to religious storytelling. The collection includes both anonymous compositions and notable works by composers such as Guillaume Bouzignac and Étienne Moulinié. Under the direction of Fabien Armengaud, the Pages and Chantres of the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles bring these pieces to life with expressive clarity, transforming the manuscripts into a vivid and evocative musical experience.

Fabien Armengaud is a French conductor and early music specialist who serves as artistic and musical director of the CMBV Choir School. Trained in harpsichord and basso continuo at the Toulouse and Paris-Saclay conservatories, he further developed his expertise in orchestral and vocal work under Hervé Niquet. Armengaud has recorded extensively with his ensembles, Le Concert Calotin and Ensemble Sébastien de Brossard, focusing on French Baroque repertoire. A continuo player with the Choir School, he has long been involved in its productions and recordings. Appointed assistant conductor in 2013, he became director in 2021, succeeding Olivier Schneebeli and leading new artistic initiatives.
