This album highlights the pivotal role of Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński in developing 19th-century Polish instrumental music, seamlessly blending classical structures with romantic, folk-inspired national styles. The collection spans his technical evolution, featuring excerpts from his youthful trio alongside mature chamber works, including an orchestral flute piece adapted for this intimate setting. Performing on period instruments, the Inverto Ensemble—founded in 2023 by Marta Gawlas, Aleksandra Żebrowska, and Matylda Adamus—delivers a fresh, unconventional interpretation. The internationally acclaimed trio masterfully navigates diverse musical expressions, guiding listeners from a melancholy cello dumka to the dignified elegance of a salon polonaise.

Founded in 2023 by traversist Marta Gawlas and historical keyboardist Aleksandra Żebrowska, and later joined by cellist Matylda Adamus, the Inverto Ensemble specializes in historically informed performance of 18th- and 19th-century repertoire. Rejecting rigid historical recreation, the trio embraces music as a fluid, living art form. Through an active dialogue with the past, they utilize period practices like ornamentation and improvisation to reshape compositions and reveal their inherent ambiguity. Each performance is approached as a unique, transformative process, delivering fresh, emotionally charged interpretations that continually uncover new insights within well-known classical works.
