Rediscovering Liszt is an innovative album release by British pianist Connor Fogel that offers an authentic window into the 1840s concert world of Franz Liszt. Grounded in historically informed performance research, the recording reconstructs two of Liszt's original solo recital programs, featuring Fogel's exploration of the composer’s probable playing style alongside rare editions, alternative variants, and cadenzas. The CD is accompanied by extensive liner notes, incorporating Fogel's own research alongside an essay by musicologist Neal Peres Da Costa on Liszt’s performance practice. This project delivers a scholarly yet captivating glimpse into nineteenth-century pianism.

Connor Fogel is a versatile British pianist, musical director, and musicologist whose career spans concert halls, West End theater productions, and academia. An alumnus of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Mountview Academy, Fogel has earned notable accolades, including second prize at the 2019 International Liszt Society Competition and the Freedom of the City of London in 2026. His album, Rediscovering Liszt (2026, Prima Facie Records), highlights his expertise in historically informed performance. Alongside widespread theatrical work, ranging from The Phantom of the Opera to the Royal Shakespeare Company, he teaches at leading institutions, including the Royal Academy of Music.
