Philip Glass holds a distinctive place in modern keyboard literature, composing piano works that resonate across a exceptionally broad audience, from concert artists and students to minimalism devotees and casual listeners. Though he initially earned global renown through his sweeping operas, iconic film scores, and large ensemble compositions, his piano music has evolved into some of the most frequently performed contemporary repertoire worldwide. By seamlessly entering international recital programs and bridging diverse musical audiences, Glass's keyboard works have played a pivotal role in redefining the role and accessibility of 20th- and 21st-century music within the traditional classical piano canon.

South African pianist and composer Nicolene Gibbons began her studies at the University of the Free State under Catharina Struthers, Prof. Johann Potgieter, and Nettie Immelman. A former prodigy who frequently performed her own compositions on television and radio, she earned prestigious study bursaries from SAMRO, UNISA, and the ABRSM. Gibbons later completed a B Mus Hons cum laude under Lamar Crowson at the University of Cape Town, followed by a master's in piano performance at London's Royal College of Music and a second master's in composition at the University of Cambridge. After nearly thirty years in England focusing on chamber music and Lied accompaniment, she currently serves as an ad hoc piano lecturer at the OSM.
