Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier, widely regarded as the "bible for pianists", is a masterwork of 24 preludes and fugues exploring every major and minor key. Enabled by the then-new well-tempered tuning system, Bach infused each key with a distinct emotional landscape, ranging from regal warmth to austere contemplation. In summer 2025, pianist Jan-Willem Rozenboom recorded the landmark collection at a Trappist monastery after months of meticulous preparation. Capturing both the lyrical freedom of the preludes and the monumental polyphony of the fugues, Rozenboom's performance offers a deeply considered, accessible journey from the serene C major Prelude to the transcendent B minor Fugue.

Accomplished Dutch classical pianist and composer Jan-Willem Rozenboom (b. 1974) earned his master’s degree at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague under Rian de Waal, mastering technical precision and expressive audience engagement. Celebrated for his interpretations of Bach, Beethoven, and Schubert, his discography includes the acclaimed Goldberg Variations (2014/2015) and the four-star Jan-Willem Rozenboom plays Bach – Seven Transcriptions. Alongside his classical milestones—including a 2023 debut in the Main Hall of Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw—Rozenboom maintains a dynamic career in popular music as the long-time pianist and composer for pop star Guus Meeuwis.
