Violinists Geneva Lewis, a former BBC New Generation Artist and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, makes her recording debut on Delos with an all-American program featuring conductor Gemma New and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. The album pairs Samuel Barber’s virtuosic, neo-Romantic Violin Concerto with Philip Glass’s operatically inspired Violin Concerto No. 1. Bridging the two concertos is the world-premiere recording of John Zorn’s intense solo violin piece, Partita for the Firebird. Led by Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award winner Gemma New, the recording showcases Lewis’s fiery technical mastery and deep emotional expressive range.
