Nareh Arghamanyan’s album Femmes de Légende honors and reclaims piano works by women composers spanning three centuries, whose contributions were long neglected, undervalued, or misattributed to men. Through this project, Arghamanyan highlights the artistry of these “invisible heroines,” presenting their music with the recognition it deserves. Her aim is not only to restore these works to the standard repertoire but also to inspire future generations of musicians to explore and champion the legacy of women in classical music, ensuring their voices are heard and remembered within the broader cultural and artistic tradition.
Nareh Arghamanyan, an Armenian-born pianist based in Vienna, is acclaimed for her virtuosity, depth, and individuality. Winner of the 2008 Montreal International Music Competition, she has performed at leading venues such as the Musikverein, Wigmore Hall, and Lincoln Center, and with orchestras including the Wiener Symphoniker and Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich under conductors like Kent Nagano and Riccardo Chailly. A frequent festival guest, she has earned awards including the Franz Liszt Prize and the Cziffra Award. Her discography spans Rachmaninov to Komitas, with recent releases on Hänssler Classic. Passionate about education, she mentors young musicians through masterclasses, competitions, and cultural initiatives.
