Mary Bevan, MBE and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, is an acclaimed British soprano performing with leading opera houses and orchestras worldwide. At Covent Garden she has sung roles including Morgana (Alcina), Lila (The Firework-Maker’s Daughter), and Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), while highlights with ENO include Susanna, Eurydice, and Zerlina. International appearances span Opera di Roma, Zurich Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro Real, and the Bolshoi. A versatile concert artist, she has sung at Carnegie Hall, the Barbican, BBC Proms, and Wigmore Hall, and toured globally. Her extensive discography covers Handel, Schubert, Vaughan Williams, and French song. She holds the RPS Young Artist Award and Critics’ Circle Award.
Joseph Middleton (b. 1981) is a leading British pianist specializing in song accompaniment and chamber music, hailed as “the rightful heir to Gerald Moore” and “one of the brightest stars in the world of song and Lieder.” He is Director of Leeds Lieder, Musician in Residence at Pembroke College, Cambridge, and Professor at the Royal Academy of Music, where he is also a Fellow. The first accompanist to win the RPS Young Artist Award, he performs worldwide at major venues including Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, Vienna Musikverein, Berlin BoulezSaal, Carnegie Hall, and BBC Proms. A frequent partner to renowned singers, he boasts an award-winning discography praised for imaginative programming.
