French pianist David Fray, celebrated for his deeply expressive interpretations of Bach, presents a new album inspired by his 2023 theatrical project L’Enfant oublié, created with actress-director Chiara Muti for his festival L’Offrande musicale, which promotes disability awareness. The program spans from Rameau to Scarlatti and includes lesser-known figures such as Royer, with Bach as its central focus. Blending original Baroque keyboard works with piano transcriptions by great interpreters including Siloti, Kempff, Busoni, and Stradal, the album reflects Fray’s signature mix of intellect, sensitivity, and imagination.

Born in 1981, French pianist David Fray is acclaimed for his intellectual depth and expressive artistry. A student of Jacques Rouvier at the Paris Conservatoire, he has earned numerous distinctions, including the Opus Klassik Award for Innovative Concert of the Year (2020), the Echo Klassik Prize for Instrumentalist of the Year, and the BBC Music Magazine’s Newcomer of the Year (2008). Fray performs worldwide with major orchestras and conductors such as Muti, Eschenbach, and Nézet-Séguin, and regularly appears at leading venues including Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall. A dedicated interpreter of Bach, his recent projects and recordings focus on the composer’s keyboard and chamber works.
