With Kiss of Fire, Spark presents a bold new project that continues the ensemble’s commitment to challenging musical boundaries and redefining classical performance. Known for its innovative and genre-defying programming, Spark blends diverse influences to create a distinctive contemporary sound. For this project, the ensemble collaborated with the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn, whose orchestral contribution adds new tonal depth and richness to Spark’s signature style. The partnership broadens the ensemble’s sonic palette, creating a dynamic fusion of chamber orchestra color and modern classical experimentation.

Spark is a chamber ensemble founded in 2007 by German recorder players Andrea Ritter and Daniel Koschitzki with the goal of presenting classical and popular music in innovative, accessible ways for broader and younger audiences. Combining classical training with influences from minimalism, film music, and pop, the ensemble performs on a wide range of instruments, including more than 30 varieties of flutes and recorders. Over time, the group expanded to include musicians such as Victor Plumettaz, Stefan Balazsovics, and Arseni Sadykov. Spark’s repertoire emphasizes contemporary works and original arrangements while reinterpreting classical and popular music. Their debut album, Downtown Illusions, won the ECHO Klassik Awards in 2011, and later releases such as Folk Tunes, Wild Territories, and Facets of Infinity further established the ensemble’s reputation for genre-crossing contemporary chamber music.
