Christoph Graupner (1683–1760) was deeply admired by his contemporaries for the spiritual depth and distinct character of his church music, which was regarded as separate from operatic and chamber styles. A commemorative tribute written decades after his death described listeners as feeling transported “to another world” upon first hearing his works. Although only a small portion of Graupner’s nearly 1,500 surviving cantatas has been recorded and published, each reveals the composer’s devotion, precision, serenity, and heartfelt joy. This latest release continues an ongoing collaborative effort by performers dedicated to honoring the long-serving Darmstadt court conductor and bringing renewed attention to his remarkable sacred music legacy.

Georg Poplutz is a highly regarded German lied and oratorio tenor who performs internationally at major festivals, churches, and concert halls across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Renowned for his interpretations of Baroque and sacred repertoire, he has collaborated with conductors and musicians including Rudolf Lutz, Hans-Christoph Rademann, and Andrzej Szadejko. Poplutz has appeared on more than 100 recordings, including award-winning projects featuring works by Heinrich Schütz and other Baroque composers. Alongside his sacred music career, he is also an accomplished art song interpreter, performing repertoire by composers such as Robert Schumann, Hugo Wolf, and Franz Schubert. Educated in Münster, Dortmund, Frankfurt, and Cologne, Poplutz studied with prominent vocal teachers including Christoph Prégardien and continues to combine scholarly depth with expressive vocal artistry.

Dominik Wörner is an internationally acclaimed German bass-baritone specializing in Baroque, classical, and contemporary repertoire. After studies in church music, musicology, keyboard instruments, and voice in Stuttgart, Fribourg, Bern, and Zurich, he gained international recognition by winning first prize at the International Bach Competition Leipzig. Wörner has performed in leading concert halls worldwide and collaborated with distinguished conductors and ensembles, including the Bach Collegium Japan. Equally respected as a lieder singer and opera performer, he maintains an extensive discography of award-winning recordings. As founder and artistic director of several ensembles and concert series, Wörner is also deeply committed to promoting both early and contemporary vocal music.
