_____________________

The upcoming second album on Hungaroton by Gergely Kovács features a program centered on late Slavic Romantic repertoire, including Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Preludes and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, alongside Zoltán Kocsis’s transcription of Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise. The recording brings together works characterized by rich emotional depth and vivid, pictorial expression, presented through interpretations noted for clarity, refinement, and disciplined focus. Kovács’s approach emphasizes structural transparency while preserving the expressive intensity of the repertoire, allowing the contrasting moods and colors of these works to emerge with heightened immediacy and cohesion in performance.

Gergely Kovács is a Hungarian pianist born in 1995 in Békéscsaba, who began studying piano at the age of eight and quickly developed into a nationally recognized young talent. After early competition successes and a radio appearance at age ten, he was admitted to the Special Class for Exceptional Young Talents at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, where he studied with leading professors and later completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He has won numerous international prizes, performed across Europe and internationally, and appeared in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall). Supported by major scholarships and awards such as the Junior Prima Prize, he continues to develop an active concert career while pursuing advanced studies and chamber music collaborations.
