Heritage presents an imaginative release featuring a 2006 concert performance from the Handel Festival, showcasing contemporary works inspired by the music of George Frideric Handel and Henry Purcell. Central to the programme are compositions by East German composer Ruth Zechlin and British contemporary composer Robin Walker. The recording also includes a rare cantata by Johann Christoph Pepusch alongside more familiar works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Handel, and Purcell, creating a thoughtful dialogue between Baroque tradition and modern musical interpretation.

Lesley-Jane Rogers is widely regarded as one of today’s most versatile vocal soloists, acclaimed for her expressive and engaging performances. A graduate and later Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, she has built a distinguished career specializing in oratorio, solo cantatas, recitals, contemporary music, and vocal concertos, with a repertoire encompassing hundreds of works. A dedicated advocate for new music, Rogers has premiered more than 170 compositions, including major works by Joseph Phibbs and Michael Finnissy. Particularly celebrated for her chamber recitals, she has collaborated with leading orchestras and conductors, while her extensive discography includes recordings for labels such as Métier, Divine Art, Hyperion, and Toccata Classics.
