Performed on the historic Bossard-Mathis Organ, the recording features works ranging from intimate sonatas to expansive preludes, showcasing Bach’s innovative approach to sonata form, emotional expression, and musical structure. François Delor (1994–2017) was a distinguished Geneva-born organist, composer, and educator who built an influential career in European classical music. Trained at the Geneva Conservatory under Pierre Segond, he earned top honors in organ virtuosity and furthered his studies in Paris with Marie-Claire Alain, later winning the François Couperin International Organ Competition in 1968. Delor served as titular organist at the Temple de la Fusterie before later becoming organist at St. Peter’s Cathedral and Victoria Hall in Geneva. Alongside an active international concert career, he taught harmony, improvisation, and organ at leading Geneva institutions and composed works for voice, piano, and organ. He also played a key advisory role in the creation of the Aubertin organ at the Auditoire Calvin, inaugurating the instrument in 2014.
