Born in Linz in 1957, Austrian composer Bernhard Lang is a prominent figure in contemporary music, recognized for his expansive catalog of over 200 stage, orchestral, and chamber works. Educated in Linz, Graz, and Darmstadt, his multifaceted background spans jazz improvisation, software development for computer-aided composition (CADMUS), and academic posts, including decades as Associate Professor of Composition in Graz. His career features prestigious residencies with the Staatskapelle Dresden and Theater Basel, along with accolades such as the Grawemeyer-level recognitions and the 2019 Austrian Art Prize. A member of the Berlin Academy of Arts, Lang regularly presents at major global music festivals.
