In The Bach-Wilson Project, violinist Peter Wilson and cellist Jennifer Kloetzel successfully revive the classical art of the descant, a higher melodic voice overlaid onto complex compositions that fell out of favor during the Romantic era. Drawing inspiration from Baroque traditions of musical quotation, improvisation, and transformation, the album seamlessly pairs J.S. Bach’s timeless masterpieces with melodies from The Beatles and original works by Wilson. Executed with technical precision and expressive synergy, Wilson’s meticulously crafted arrangements allow the duo to weave graceful, ethereal descants across Bach's intricate foundational structures, creating a rich and delightful musical synthesis.
Acclaimed by The Washington Post for his "first-class" artistry, Peter Wilson is a distinguished violinist, conductor, arranger, and composer with a remarkable career spanning prestigious international venues. A former senior enlisted music advisor to The White House, Wilson served 30 years as a Marine violinist performing for five U.S. Presidents. He currently serves as Music Director for both the Richmond Philharmonic and Waynesboro Symphony Orchestras, alongside his role as Artistic Director of the American Festival Pops Orchestra. Holding a DMA from Catholic University, Wilson has collaborated with renowned icons like John Williams and maintains a vibrant global footprint as a soloist and conductor.
The BrickHouse Duo, featuring violinist Peter Wilson and cellist Jennifer Kloetzel, brings decades of collective artistry to the concert stage. Having first met as members of the prestigious National High School Honors Orchestra, both musicians built extensive, independent careers before reconnecting through orchestral solos under Wilson’s baton. This initial collaboration blossomed into violin and cello duo performances, culminating in the official launch of The BrickHouse Duo in 2017. As an active recording and touring ensemble, they showcase their exceptional versatility across the United States through a diverse range of engagements, including classical recitals, concerto appearances, benefit programs, and holiday pop concerts.
