Soprano Rowan Pierce joins Florilegium and Ashley Solomon for Tra le fiamme, a recording of secular cantatas by Handel and Bach. Handel’s Tra le fiamme showcases Italianate brilliance, blending vocal virtuosity with emotional depth, while Bach’s Ich bin in mir vergnügt offers a contemplative reflection on inner peace, contentment, and stoic philosophy, highlighting his engagement with secular moral themes. The program also features Vivaldi’s dazzling Alleluia from In furore iustissimae irae and instrumental concertos by Vivaldi and Handel, creating a richly varied recording that unites expressive vocal works with virtuosic instrumental music.
Yorkshire-born soprano Rowan Pierce has established an international career, performing across the UK, Europe, and the Americas with leading ensembles such as the Academy of Ancient Music, Dunedin Consort, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Gabrieli Consort, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and Royal Northern Sinfonia.
